good looking?

I'm sure most of you have heard that tall good looking men are on average more successful in their carreers than the short stubby variety. I wonder if the same is true for women? I was looking through some recent candidates for a position, and I thought to myself no, no, no. and then I meet one of them. I reconsidered on looks.

it is true, investing in hair do's, straight teeth, and good clothes, especially shoes, makes a difference. Of course, charisma tops everything and i don't think that shows up on paper.

well of course looks have an impact on hirability of women. that is still the primary thing women are hired on probably. lame as it is....

Daniel used to wear tennis shoes to work (with his standard khakis/dress-casual long sleeve shirt outfit). Then he got new dress shoes or found some in the closet or something and started wearing them.

Apparently a bunch of people commented, not on his shoes but that he was "dressed up" or something, so he's worn them ever since. He was really surprised that shoes made such a difference.

another 'dressed up' thing is a plain WHITE button up dress shirt. I wear dress shirt / jeans, nice belt, and decent shoes each and every day to work. every time I wear a plain white button up shirt EVERYONE asks what position i'm inerviewing for... not in a joking way, but seriously.

shoes do make a big difference. to do some psycho analysis of his co-workers he should cover his old shoes in duct tape and see what they do.
